promouvoir la formation professionnelle des médecins généralistes ; contribuer à l'harmonisation entre la formation initiale et la formation continue et favoriser la nécessaire participation des médecins généralistes à la formation initiale ; initier et promouvoir les activités de recherche fondamentale ou appliquée en médecine générale, de publication émanant des médecins généralistes ; développer des outils d'évaluation ; favoriser la concertation et la coordination entre les initiatives des associations, structures ou groupes s'occupant de médecine générale au niveau départemental, régional ou national ; représenter ses membres dans les instances chargées de la formation initiale et continue des médecins, et plus particulièrement celle des médecins généralistes ; engager toute action contribuant à l'amélioration de la santé publique et de la qualité des soins
