Objet :

promouvoir la formation initiale délivrée par les écoles d'orthoptie des universités françaises, assurer et protéger la qualité et l'équité des soins en orthoptie, regrouper les orthoptistes ayant participé ou participant à l'enseignement (aussi bien théorique que pratique) préparant au certificat de capacité d'orthoptie et permettant ainsi aux directeurs de ses enseignements de disposer d'un corps professionnel compétent, se proposer comme partenaire institutionnel légitime des écoles d'orthoptie et des universités françaises, lors des échanges et négociations avec les différents partenaires et interlocuteurs institutionnels, étudier les programmes d'enseignement et ses modalités d'évaluations (cours, exposés, conférences, stages, etc), publier les textes, articles, documents, études et communications concernant l'enseignement et l'exercice de la profession d'orthoptiste, promouvoir et récompenser la recherche en orthoptie, faciliter aux orthoptistes l'acquisition et le développement de la culture scientifique fondamentale et appliquée dans le domaine de l'orthoptie, organiser la formation professionnelle postuniversitaire et y participer, participer à « la formation des formateurs » et proposer des enseignements sur la pédagogie universitaire
